In the deep recess of the majestic Ribeira de Pera, the large reservoirs moved the hydraulic wheel that served as the driving force of the ancient stomps and the first mechanical spinning mills of industrial progress.

The hydroelectric use of the waters of the levadas begun and the Pisão Novo Reservoir has a prominent role, being the first to bring electricity to the streets of the village, in 1912, through the hydroelectric turbine installed there.
