Lagar do Corga is an old industrial olive oil production unit, with more than 400 years of existence.

With the transposition of the new community norms into Portuguese legislation, it became impossible to continue operating the mill in that location.

Therefore, the União Recreativa Sapateirense, with the support of the City Council, decided to transform the mill into a museum structure dedicated to the artisanal production of olive oil, inaugurated in 2001.
