Inaugurated in 1930 by the First Initiative Commission, presided over by Dr. Manuel Simões Barreiros, the Garden Park of Figueiró dos Vinhos was designed and its construction began in the late 19th century.

The layout and aesthetics of the Garden Park stem from Romanticism, creating common spaces for socializing in the spirit of 19th-century Liberalism.

The variously shaped trimmed shrubs (Topiaria) have always been one of the defining features of this ensemble, an art in which Gardener José Francisco Simões Júnior (1910-1997) excelled.

In 1998, it was awarded the Silver Medal in the "European Competition for Flowered Cities and Towns."
