The Letreira Stone is an imposing monument of rock art that takes you on a journey through time and is classified as a Property of Public Interest.

It consists of a lowered shale platform, arranged horizontally, on the surface of which various engravings have been carved with a polished stone axe.

Within this ensemble, there appear to be depictions of a bow and arrow, reticulated motifs, arrowheads and halberds, as well as anthropomorphic figures.

Dating back to the Bronze Age, the Letreira Stone is part of a vast collection of rock art remains in Portugal.

Associated with this monument is a popular verse that is part of oral tradition:

"Em frente à Pedra Letreira
(In front of Letreira Stone)

Há três minas em carreira:
(There are three mines in a row:)

Uma de ouro, outra de prata,
(One of gold, another of silver)

E outra de peste que mata!"
(And another of a deadly plague!)
