An Unforgettable Visit with a Social Purpose.

In the centre of the country, very close to Coimbra, a unique project in Portugal is flourishing in a magical place for those who love nature: the Serra da Lousã Biological Park, an integral part of the Tourism with Social Purpose Project of the ADFP Foundation, its owner.

Located in the Serra da Lousã mountain range, it aims to be the largest sample of wild fauna in Portugal and was created with the aim of favouring and helping to conserve the species that inhabit or have inhabited Portuguese territory.

As you walk along the park's paths, you'll see around 375 animals, divided into 68 different species, including birds of prey, brown bear, lynx, Iberian wolf, fox, wild boar, deer and a unique variety of traditional Portuguese agro-pastoral breeds, among many others!

A special feature of our park is that many of the species you'll see are irrecoverable species, i.e. species that could never live on their own in nature again.

All along the route you can observe not only Portuguese fauna, but also the native flora of our territory and rest in the shade of chestnut, oak and strawberry trees!

You can also visit the museum area, which is divided into three museums: the Mind Space Museum, the Cooperage Museum, and the Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts.

With the aim of being for everyone and visited by everyone, the Biological Park has invested in new routes that allow access for people with reduced mobility, wheelchairs and pushchairs.
