Located next to the main church of Vila Nova is the Casa do Tronco (Trunk House), the Júlio Ferrador Museum.

Where today is the Headquarters of the Board of Directors of the Baldios de Vila Nova (Vila Nova Commons), in 1944 it was the workshop, better known as Casa do Tronco (Trunk House), of Júlio Alves Dias, where he shoed the oxen used in agricultural work and cargo transport.

Júlio Alves Dias was known throughout the parish of Vila Nova and the surrounding areas as Júlio “Ferrador” (Farrier), a profession he learned during his childhood and adolescence.

The Casa do Tronco (Trunk House) is integrated into the Baldios de Vila Nova (Vila Nova Commons).

The Baldios de Vila Nova (Vila Nova Commons) are located in the parish of Vila Nova and are considered the viewpoint of the municipality of Miranda do Corvo.

Covering approximately 600 hectares, they offer visitors stunning landscapes, exuberant fauna and flora, trails and walking routes. The precious biotopes, natural areas of ecological value, host a large and diverse community of animals and plants.

To date, 103 species of terrestrial invertebrates, 5 amphibians, 4 reptiles, 21 mammals, and 48 plants have been identified.
