The Climbing Area of Fraga was established through a partnership between the Municipality of Vila Nova de Poiares and the Mountaineering and Climbing Promotion Federation, with the goal of providing another opportunity to practice this sport in the central region of the country.

The quartzite rock outcrops are east-facing, allowing climbing almost all year round.

On sunny winter days, climbing can be done in the mornings, and during the hotter summer months, in the afternoons.v
