Leaving Lousã to visit the Senhora da Piedade River Beach, located within the complex of the same name, feels like embarking on a timeless journey.

The place, known among the locals as "Burgo," captivates those who arrive after navigating the winding two-kilometer road through the mountains.

Apart from being a center of pilgrimage to the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade and the Hermitages, the entire "Burgo" - especially the Arouce Castle built with schist - carries visitors through the history of the municipality.

Descending from the castle, one encounters an excellent use of the waters of the Ribeira de São João for bathing.

Within the premises, there is a café with a terrace, and by crossing one of the bridges over the stream, visitors can access the sunbathing area and the restaurant "O Burgo," where they can savor typical dishes.

The entire space is developed with reference to the use of schist, highlighting its natural beauty.
