Theatre and cinema in Lousã date back to the 19th century, with the inauguration of the "Teatro Velho" in 1863, which operated until the mid-1947.

After renovations, the "Cine-Teatro da Lousã" was inaugurated on October 4, 1947, but was closed in 1987 for safety reasons.

Later, it was acquired by the Municipality in 1989 and, after further renovations, reopened in 1992, operating until 2020.

On October 4, 2024, it reopened as the "Municipal Theatre of Lousã," fully renovated and featuring a diverse program.
