It is a Manueline pillory with a marble shaft, possibly originating from an ancient Roman building nearby.

It is notable for being the largest shaft of a single block from this period, found in Portugal, the base consisting of four steps and the capital in a cubic shape, bearing on its faces the Cross of Christ, the armillary sphere and, on the other faces, two shields already spent.
